The Eels, The Classic Crime, and Envy on the Coast

Shmeh shmeh shmeh, sorry I've been reaally slow! I haven't updated this in like 2 weeks :( Please forgive my slothfulness and enjoy!

The Eels:

So sadly, I'm one of the many who discovered this band from Shrek, but that being said, I won't let it stop me from jamming to these peeps! I love his rastic voice with the celesta styled guitar and keys. Good mix of air and bellish sounds, along with experimental guitar sounds make them solid. they're an older band, from the 80s or 90s I believe....but I don't remember. anyways, they're pretty shnazz.

The Classic Crime:

I have always and will always love these guys. They were the next greatest thing for me, after Switchfoot. Their perfect balance of rock with beautiful melodies and guitar riffs(along with some fun drum patterns) make them solid all around. Matt MacDonald(Lead singer, guitarist) has an incredible voice! Just the right amount of rusk to his voice where he can powerhouse like a mad man, but not so much that it's annoying or lacking any soft town. Check out Salt in the Snow, Who Needs Air or Headlights for a softer feel. For a more driving side, listen to We All Look Elsewhere, Medisin, or The Fight. (Btdubs, all their songs are amazing! only stuff I don't like is their newest album Vagabonds. you might like it, but it feels too poppy and just doesn't feel right. Their Acoustic ep is also pretty solid. check them out, love them, and cheese.)

Envy on the Coast:

R.I.P. ETOC. They grew to be one of my favorite bands for the last year(Yes, I've had/have a lot of favorite bands...). A mix of hectic rock with a jazzy feel and sassy drumming makes them stellar. I was gonna put the song Lapse on here, but I'm pretty sure any one who listened to it would cry, and we can't have that right now. can we? :P haha. But seriously, this is something I'd love to do. Lucy Grey is probably one of the best albums produced (I mean, as long as you can dig this sound.) and it's soooo underrated compared to a lot of other stuff. enjoy :) and until next time, chow.

  1. I've been waiting!! How am I supposed to stay ahead of these muso's down here if I don't have your blog updated and ready to go. But seriously...I listen to this stuff, download it, play at church and then people think I'm super cool. I don't tell them it's all from you though...

  2. Awesome songs! I need a radio no more.
    Switchfoot = always.
    A Lonely Forest = my new whim.
    Radical Face = ear candy?
    I, too, pooped my pants when I watched Luke Holland...wait, that might have been a personal problem...or not...hahaha. Holland was sick though. But I hear this Jared bloke is pretty wicked on drums too.
